We have been monitoring the fluid in Elliott’s ears for 75% of his life…. he’s had a few ear infections (luckily, only one this past winter), but we’re in the doc’s office every month, checking the ear fluid. And he always has fluid – at least its clear. At our doctor’s suggestion, we finally made an appointment with an ENT, who recommended ear tubes and a speech evaluation.
At 26 months, he knows about 140 words. He is motivated by what he loves: mine, blue, green, poo poo truck, fire truck, dump truck, Yo Ho (Jake and the Neverland Pirates), Dog, Daniel Tiger, RoRo, No, O’s, All Done, Downstairs, No pants are some of the highlights. The longest string of words he’s every put together is “My blue and green car” when reading a Berenstain Bears Race Car book.
He especially seems to have trouble with his own name and “I love you” – neither of which have strong consonant sounds, obviously. Whenever I say “I love you,” he answers back with “dan que Mom” (thank you Mom), which is incredibly gratifying.
No interesting pics to share about fluid in the ears, so here are pics of Elliott just being his awesome little stuff! (Also, our host blog website has changed some of its technical features, so sorry for the extremely large pictures all clustered at the end. I’m not willing to invest the time to figure out an alternative right now – I’m just trying to get back into blogging, after an extreme dry spell.)

Upon first glance, you may think this is Natalie’s preschool room… but its mine too, from 9 – 9:15am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, when Mom and I drop her off

Yes! My first time with the beater!!!! This is delicious. Why have you been holding out on me, Ma?!? (Confession from Mom – Nat always gets it first)
