Happy Mother’s Day!

I know I loved my first Mother’s Day, but my second one was even better!  Despite another cold and some terrible teething, Natalie and Jordan really outdid themselves!  (Thankfully, Natalie was also in a much better mood than she was in Saturday aft.)

The day started out with flowers and a family date to the Children’s Museum.  We asked Natalie in the morning, “Who wants to go to the Children’s Museum?” and she eagerly responded “MEEE!!!”  Natalie made sure to take us to her favorites – Water Ways and Treehouse Trails – and Jordan made sure to show Natalie something new too.

Who is ready for some football? (Or tailgating?)

Then, we had an amazing brunch at Nana’s and Pop’s.  Today was Aunt Jira’s and Uncle Alex’s last day in Chicago – I know Natalie will miss them a lot, but we are thankful for all the time they spent with Natalie.  Below is a photo from a couple weeks ago….

Hm, I'm still not sure why you use this club when you could just throw the ball in the hole....

Jordan and Natalie also treated me to a facial, a fabulous homecooked dinner and specialty cupcakes from Molly’s.  Natalie was thoroughly impressed with her Dad in the kitchen… when he used the food processor to dice the brussel sprouts, she said really cutely: “WOW!”  I also got a “Happy Momma’s Day!” from her (prompted, word by word, of course – by me.)  And, Kaila, our fabulous nanny, and Natalie also finger painted me a beautiful frame.  We’ll need to find a more recent picture to put in it, but I know its something I will keep forever.

A pretty frame from a pretty girl!

Also, here’s a pic of Natalie and Kaila… no, not on the day of the finger painting!

Mom, when am I going to have pretty long hair like Kaila's?

I have to say – we are thankful to have many mothers in our our lives that are great role models to us – Grandma and Nana are top of mind, of course.  However, as a mom, I’m also really thankful for daughters, sons (if we are ever so fortunate) and husbands -for without Jordan and Natalie, I wouldn’t be living out my vocation as a Mom!
